Council offices and two charity visits 18 June

After doing work emails at six in the morning and a work conference call at 8:30am,   Three Rivers’ Director of Community and Environmental Services,  Geof Muggeridge, had organised a visit of Three Rivers House. In the morning I also visited Robin Winder the Inspector for the Safer Neighbourhood Team  for the  Three Rivers Community Safety Partnership.

A short trip to Watersmeet to see the refurbishments. There was a regional booking from a local company. I bought pantomime tickets for the Civic night on December 12th.   I also visited the Three Rivers Depot and met the team who are organising the transition to the new recycling methods. In the afternoon I visited Watford and Three Rivers Mencap to learn more about their work and how I could support them as one of my local  charities during my year as Chairman of TRDC.  It was a quick walk from the council offices to visit Jane Pattinson and Carol Tunstall at the Old town Hall , 105 High Street Rickmansworth,  where Mencap are based.

After that it was over the County  boundary to visit the Lynda Jackson Macmillan Cancer Centre (LJMC) , the second of my three charities. I had a meeting with Rosemary Lucey and Buzz Costa. My first to LJMC was in 2007 when Amrit Mediratta was Chair of Three Rivers. It was to launch the Moor Park 10K in Aid of LJMC. I have already entered this year’s event on Friday September 28th 2014. The Watford 10K on the first Monday in May 2015 is in aid of Mencap. As far as I know my third charity,  Rickmansworth CAB ,  do not organise a 10K!!

It was back to Three Rivers House for a quick planning meeting for the Chairman’s Golf Day on Friday May 15th. Before going to bed I read the first chapter of the cancer guide I had been given. There are over 200 different cancers. More than 1 in 3 of us will get cancer. Increasing your exercise level will decrease your chances of cancer recurring.
